Yes, I believe God wants more for you. He wants you to know real connection with Him and others. He wants you to know real purpose ordained by His design. I believe that starts with a fresh encounter with Him and His Word. But I also believe that getting to know God better requires a community committed to studying the Word of God and prayerfully living it out. That's the mission you'll find me carrying out at More to Be, which is an overflow of my own journey of being rescued by God and watching His redemptive work create a new legacy for my family. Throughout the last decade of coaching women from around the world and training women to become coaches, I've witnessed God's powerful work overflow through intentionally choose to align our thoughts and actions with His truth . . . His best. I believe that is possible for you too. I count it a privilege to help you discover how God wants to work in your life and align your life with His best. Whether you are longing for spiritual growth, personal transformation, hope-filled vision for your marriage, purpose in the middle of your motherhood, or clarity in your missional work, I'm here, along with my team of More to Be Coaches , to help you. Because with God, there is more! A Ministry Shaped by God's Grace It's nothing short of a miracle that I've logged over 25 years in ministry, both in leading my own ministry and in serving on youth leadership and women's ministry teams, while also raising a family and growing in my own faith. Coming from a home marred by emotional and physical abuse, I was destined for anything but the life I'm leading now . . . a life that is marked by God's extravagant grace, as He rescued me in that college dorm room in London in 1993. The journey has been all about God's extravagant work in me from the inside out. He's transformed me from a lost and lonely, angry and bitter, resentful and unforgiving woman into one who knows her worth and identity found in Christ alone. I can confidently say I am His beloved, called to be love in this world. And so are you! No doubt the 18 years we spent living and working at a boarding school, where my husband was a teacher, was critical in the process of uncovering God's love. He wooed me deeper into healing through relationships with women in every season and stage of life. That's why I am so passionate about mentoring along with the benefits of counseling and the power of coaching . God heals through relationships of every kind. As I work towards certification as a trauma-focused equine-assisted therapy coach and specialist , I believe that even more so. It only confirms what I've learned in my life coach certification process nearly a decade ago and through the healing that I experienced in counseling for the post-traumatic stress disorder that threatened to undo me completely and destroy my family. As I work with women from around the world, serving as their coach , I am certain that God is not finished with a single soul. There's always hope for more. All that I've experienced and continue to learn fuels the passion for everything you'll find at More to Be . While this place began as a hub of resources for teen girls, it has evolved into so much more. I am devoted to equipping women to encounter God afresh, embrace His radically transforming love, and live the life He intended . . . a life of brightness and beauty as they become more like Jesus and impact the next generation with Kingdom hope. I pray that More to Be will become a rich source of encouragement as you meet God personally through His Word and by the working of His Spirit, making you more like Jesus every passing day! Connect on Google+ Is it Lisa or Elisa ? I am often asked, “What do you like to be called, as I see that you sign your name both as Lisa and Elisa?” Definitely, I prefer to be called Lisa . Let me explain. On a practical level, Lisa is just easier for people to say and remember, and I especially appreciate when people call me by name. However, the reason I prefer Lisa is that it is a “stone of remembrance” for a work the Lord has done on my heart. While God gave me the name Elisa through my parents, I believe He also has given me the new name Lisa . Much like how He changed Abram to Abraham, and Sarai to Sarah, and Saul to Paul, I believe the Lord ushered in a new call, a new life for me as Lisa , to be a precious reminder of His work in my life. At a key moment in my transformational journey, as I wrestled with the Lord over my anger issues and the deep-seated frustration over the legacy of abuse that marred at least three generations in my family. I had been a Christian for more than a decade at that point, attended plenty of Bible studies, devoted myself to ministry, read Scriptures daily, and prayed time and time again to see real change in my life. But my anger would not go away. In that moment of desperation, I turned to the Lord, begging Him again to do something. That is when I sensed the Spirit saying to me, Take off this cloak of anger and put on my cloak of righteousness. According to the Word of God, we are a new creation in Christ when we have been saved. What wonderful news! However, I had been living like the old woman instead of the new woman. This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! 2 Corinthians 5:17 NLT In my mind’s eye, I could see myself walking around with a matted down, dirty, smelly fur coat. I foolishly believed the coat was valuable, simply because it was what I had always worn. Taking it off would make me feel exposed and naked. But it would also remove a stench and weight from a life I no longer needed to carry. It was time to become new, on the inside and out. . ..t hrow off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception. Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes. Put on your new nature, created to be like God—truly righteous and holy.
